Performance Prediction of Falling-Film Evaporators

Three experimental results in the literature involving the evaporation of water and of brine in falling-film evaporators have been compared to predictions in which were used the local heat-transfer coefficients experimentally correlated as h = A (Λ/μ)n , where the constants A and n take on different values depending on the flow regime of the falling film, and (4 Λ/μ) is the film Reynolds number. The relatively good accord between theory and experiment supports the use of those coefficients for design.
