Generalized equations are obtained for radiative diffusion in a nongray gas and for the energy jump at a wall. By using the second-order energy jump at a wall, the diffusion approximation for radiation in a gas is improved considerably, the range of validity of the approximation being extended to lower values of optical thickness.
