It is with great pleasure that we bring to the readership of the ASME Journal of Computational and Nonlinear Dynamics (JCND) a special issue dedicated to select papers from the ASME International Design Engineering Technical Conferences and Computers and Information in Engineering (IDETC-CIE) Conferences. The 2019 IDETC-CIE conferences took place in Anaheim, CA, from August 18–21.
We started this project motivated by our conviction that organizing a JCND special issue tied to the Multibody Systems and Nonlinear Dynamics and Controls (MSNDC) Conference, as well as the Mechanical Vibration and Noise (VIB) Conference, is long overdue. Last year, we had the 16th and 32nd editions of the MSNDC and VIB conferences, respectively. These two peer-reviewed conferences, whose focus includes vibrations, nonlinear dynamics, and multibody systems, have provided an international venue where our colleagues have presented an early glimpse into their highest-quality research.
