With these changes in the lists of Associate and Guest Editors, our editorial team consists of 1 Editor (Ed), 32 AEs, and three GEs, who represent 14 countries with nuclear-power reactors (Canada (1 Ed, 2 AEs, and 1 GE), China (3 AEs), Czech Republic (1 AE), France (1 AE), Germany (2 AEs), Hungary (1 AE), India (1 AE), Japan (4 AEs), Mexico (1 AE), Russia (2 AEs), Slovenia (1 AE), Ukraine (1 Ed), United Kingdom (1 AE), and USA (8 AEs and 2 GEs)), and three countries without nuclear-power reactors (Austria (1 AE), Israel (1 AE), and Italy (2 AEs)).

During our third year, we have published four issues (as planned, always on time or ahead of schedule) with 94 papers including two Special-Edition Issues with selected papers:

  1. (1)

    Special Section (Vol. 3, No. 2, April 2017) on Pressurized Heavy Water Reactors Safety. Guest Editors—Dr. Srikumar Banerjee (BARC, India); Dr. Arun Nayak (BARC, India); and Dr. Thambiayah Nitheanandan.

  2. (2)

    Special Section (Vol. 3, No. 3, July 2017), Selected Papers from the 28th Conference of the Nuclear Societies in Israel. Guest Editors—Dr. Ilan Yaar, NRCN, and Dr. Jean Koch, Soreq NRC.

Also, our Special-Edition Issue on papers from the International Symposium on SuperCritical Water-cooled Reactors (ISSCWR-7) (Issue No. 1, Vol. 2, January of 2016) has been listed on the GIF (Generation IV International Forum) website:!

Our plans for the near future are:

  1. (1)

    Publish four issues with a larger number of papers to make the “waiting time” for publishing as short as possible;

  2. (2)

    Publish two Special Issues with selected augmented and revised papers from: (a) the International Symposium on SuperCritical Water-cooled Reactors (ISSCWR-8), March, 2017, Chengdu, China; (Issue No. 1, Vol. 4, January of 2018); and (b) International Conference on Nuclear Engineering (ICONE-24), June 26–30, 2016, Charlotte, NC (Issue No. 2 or 3, Vol. 4, April or July of 2018).

  3. (3)

    Attract new papers from around the world for 2018 and 2019 issues.

Many authors and readers asked us about ratings of our Journal in various international systems. On this, we have good news to announce—The Journal was accepted into the Web of Science, Emerging Sources Citation Index; it is accepted for inclusion in Scopus (by Elsevier B.V.), and it is eligible for a Journal Impact Factor (JIF) next year.

And finally, we hope that you will join us in this new journal as authors of submitted manuscripts and as reviewers. This is indeed a unique international journal, which combines research, industrial operating experience, new designs/systems, safety analysis, applications of nuclear energy, and many other related topics that change the world and our lives for the better! We also hope you will enjoy reading the papers that follow.

On the behalf of the ASME NERS Editorial Board,
